About This Experience

Route 60 is the road that runs east out of Mendoza city into Maipú, and it was the first stretch of the province ever planted to vines. This tour follows it to three cellars and one olive mill for the lowest price of any wine tour on this site — and, at nine glasses, one of the largest pours.

The format is deliberately unhurried: roughly an hour at each of the four stops. That is enough for the guide to walk you through the property, explain how the wine is actually made there, run the tasting, and still leave time to visit the cellar shop before the van moves on.

The operator is a small family agency rather than a coach company, and the group travels in a modern van. The pool of partner cellars is unusually open: Familia Cecchín, Vistandes, Don Manuel Villafañe, Esencia 1870, Florio, Casa Corbel, Catapano, Viñas El Ceno and Cavas de Don Arturo all appear, with the day's three set by availability.

There is no lunch, and the tour does not stop for one. Departure is at two in the afternoon, so the operator asks plainly that you eat first — nine tastings on an empty stomach is the single most common way to spoil a Mendoza wine day.

• The whole day is about six hours, 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm, including roughly 30 minutes' drive each way to Maipú.
• Alcohol and drugs brought aboard are not permitted.
